Stress sick

Stress sick
Coughing crammed calendar
Burnt out busy
Balancing bizerk.

Tonight a lawyer is helping us with our wills.
Coincidence, I tell myself.

Mandela is dying,
So too is Labor’s reign.
GeeBee is aging,
As am I.

Our house is being smashed
And then repaired.
Under a Head Builder’s watch.

No doubt that’s what happening to me.
But there are no permits or plans.
And I guess I’m the Head Builder.

Work will wait
Cope
Without me.

I need to take better care of myself.

Ghost Speaker

Is he OK? We never heard from him last night.
Absent Man of the hour.
Guest speaker stuck in traffic
weather
or worse.

Aging cloak of fog.
Changes plans,
hides things.

We guessed and worried and assumed and improvised.
Guest speaker became ghost speaker.
Ghostwriter, technically.

Beacons from audience volunteered their talent,
lit the way.
Our hazy event hobbled together.

But how is he?
Where?

Kid’s Party

Teddy Bear biscuits with smarties for eyes
baked on a paddle pop stick.
Up, down, up, down that gentle green slide.
Little people ruling the yard, cubby house, the world.
No tears pass-the-parcel with classic newspaper and trinkets.
One for each layer; each player.
With one sheet of personal and escort agency ads
to see if those big people are paying attention.
Fruit kebabs, homemade hummus and pizza.
When the music and dancing stopped in musical statues,
GeeBee clapped and YAYed for more.
She was out first but was only ever in it to boost player morale.

Happy Birthday Trixie!

I have a few draft blog posts that are lurking in the dashboard of my blog. Waiting to be finished. Or to be begun.

The post you are currently reading only had a title: “Write less, more often”.

Okay then, I will.

It seems the appropriate place to start Con‘s #blogjune challenge.

Are you on board? :)
